One last thing. . . . .Apps and extensions
One last thing we can look over together, apps and extensions. What's the difference?
Apps are just that, "Applications." When you look at "Apps" in the Google Store, they can be one of two things: Either an application that runs by itself independently OR just a shortcut to website. How do you tell the difference? When you click on an app in the store, look at the "details" tab. Does it say "Website" on the right hand side? If it does, it's just a shortcut to a website. If it doesn't, it's an app that runs independently on its own.
Extensions are unique programs that you can add to your Chrome Browser that will appear in the upper right hand corner of your browser near the "omnibox" (where you put website addresses). They add functionality to your browser and are some of the most interesting and exciting things you can add with Chrome.
Lets start with interesting Apps. . . . .

kaizena voice comments
Simply highlight and give feedback. Kaizena is the best place to help students improve their work.
Voice feedback for writing is nothing new. Stanford experimented with recording verbal feedback for students on cassette tapes back in the '80s, and there's been a steady stream of research ever since.
The difference is, for the first time, we're making it simple. Simply highlight and speak.
Note: Currently, we only support Google Documents (not Spreadsheets, Presentations, etc).

My favorite extensions
Realize that students may not have access to all of these apps because their accounts are restricted by the district to filter out certain apps. Always double check if they have access before planning. If you ever find an app that you think students should have access to, talk to IT or a VP about getting it unblocked from student accounts.
